International Association of Valuers
ABOUT US
The International Association of Valuers (IAV) is a distinguished global community of credentialed professionals who bring both broad and specialised expertise to the field of valuation. In an increasingly diverse professional landscape, IAV recognises and elevates professionals who are committed to excellence across all domains of corporate life, offering a platform where their skills and dedication are acknowledged.
WHO WE ARE
IAV is tailored for accomplished professionals seeking recognition beyond their primary qualifications. Membership is exclusive, requiring candidates to already hold membership in a professional association aligned with their core expertise.
As a second-tier accrediting organisation, the IAV offers an advanced professional qualification that builds upon each member’s foundational skills. Membership of the IAV is comparable to achieving a professional Master’s degree.
OUR VISION
We aim to support, promote, and empower our members to excel in their valuation work, gaining both recognition and the appropriate financial consideration for their expertise.
OUR APPROACH
IAV is committed to:
- Excellence: Upholding rigorous standards and ethical practices.
- Education: Promoting continual learning and academic advancement.
- Research: Delivering insights, market data, and innovation within valuation practices.
- Public Engagement: Encouraging members to share their expertise in public forums and advocate for the valuation profession.
WHO IS A VALUER?
International Valuation Standards describe a valuer as someone equipped with the qualifications, ability, and experience to carry out valuations in an objective, ethical, and skilled manner.
Our members come from a wide array of professional fields, including but not limited to accountants, analysts, economists, quantity surveyors, scientists, demographers, actuaries, engineers and sociologists.
WHAT IS VALUATION?
Valuation is the manual process of reaching a conclusion which is grounded in research and analysis; and is documented and defensible.
A valuation can range from traditional asset valuations for use in the sale, acquisition and merger of companies, to scientific valuations of climate change impacts on local ecosystems.
